At Child Action, Inc., we believe that allyship—standing up for others—is very important. Being an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community means more than just saying “we care”. It means showing kindness, respect, and support in real ways every day.
June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month, a time to celebrate and support LGBTQIA+ community. It’s also a time to learn, listen, and show that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and care.
Allyship means listening to others, using words that include everyone, and making sure all families feel welcome—no matter what they look like. It means saying something when we see or hear unfair treatment. Even small actions can send a big message: You matter here.
Child Action’s ACROSS values help guide us. They remind us to treat people fairly, to be kind, and to make sure every child, family, and staff member feels safe and respected. We work hard to make sure our spaces are open and welcoming for everyone.
We know that families are different. Some have two moms, two dads, one parent, or caregivers who are not parents at all. All families should be treated with respect. Supporting LGBTQIA+ families is not extra work, it’s part of who we are and what we do.
Being an ally is something we choose to do every day. When we lead with care and respect, we make Child Action, Inc. a better, stronger, and more loving place for all. How are you demonstrating your allyship?
