An Intro to Client Services

Who is Client Services? 

At Child Action, Inc. (CAI), our Client Services department is the cornerstone of Sacramento County’s largest childcare subsidy program. We are dedicated to supporting families in accessing affordable childcare and ensuring providers receive the resources they need. 
Our mission is to guide parents through the enrollment process and match them with qualified childcare providers. Client Services plays a crucial role in managing the program effectively and efficiently.  

What We Do
Client Services focuses on five key areas: 

  • Assessing Eligibility: Reviewing applications to determine if families qualify for subsidized care. 
  • Enrolling Families: Pairing eligible families with licensed providers in our program. 
  • Calculating Payments: Determining accurate payments for childcare services. 
  • Performing Desk Audits: Ensuring compliance and accuracy in case files. 
  • Conducting Fair Hearings: Providing families the opportunity to appeal decisions and seek resolution. 
Client Services
Our Units 

Assessment Unit
We are the first point of contact for families seeking childcare assistance. Our team reviews applications and determines eligibility, setting the foundation for accessing care. 

Case Management
Case Management is at the heart of our services. We monitor each family’s case, process updates, and ensure that every change meets the needs of the families we serve. 

Fair Hearings
If a family disagrees with a decision regarding their case, they can request a Fair Hearing. This process involves a neutral third-party review to resolve the issue and determine the final outcome. 

Payments Department
Our Payments Department ensures providers are compensated accurately and on time. Payment technicians review attendance records and childcare schedules approved by CAI, calculate monthly payments, and forward them to the Fiscal Department for processing. 

Quality Control Unit
The Quality Control Unit is our internal hub of excellence. This team supports multiple departments by managing audits, handling rate changes, preparing reports, and addressing various operational needs.
